Chromo-fluorogenic probes for ?-galactosidase detection

?-Galactosidase (?-Gal) is a widely used enzyme as reporter gene in the field of molecular biology which hydrolyzes ?-galactosides into monosaccharides. ?-Gal an essential humans and its deficiency or overexpression results several rare diseases. Cellular senescence probably one most relevant physiological disorders that involve enzyme. In this review, we assess progress made to date design molecular-based probes for detection both vitro vivo. Most reported consist galactopyranoside residue attached signalling unit through glycosidic bonds. The ?-Gal-induced hydrolysis bonds released with remarkable changes color and/or emission. Additional examples based on other approaches are also described. wide applicability these rapid situ de-regulation ?-Gal–related diseases has boosted research fertile field.
